Pythagorean Model

This device visually demonstrates one of the most famous theorems in mathematics — the Pythagorean Theorem. In the model, squares are constructed on each side of a right triangle. According to the theorem, the area of the square on the hypotenuse (the side opposite the right angle) is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the other two sides.

This simple yet fundamental rule is one of the pillars of geometry and trigonometry. Through the model, visitors can compare the sizes of the squares and visually observe this equality. Such a clear and straightforward demonstration of a mathematical idea makes it easier to learn and highlights the beauty of mathematics.

Although named after the Greek mathematician Pythagoras, who lived in the 6th century BCE, the principle was also used in ancient Egyptian and Babylonian mathematics. Traces of the same rule can be found in India and China thousands of years ago. During the Middle Ages, Islamic scholars further developed the theorem and presented various proofs.

Today, the Pythagorean Theorem is used in many fields — from architecture to physics and engineering. This model is one of the simplest and most effective representations of this timeless mathematical law.
