Traditional “Open Door” days were held at the Central Scientific Library (CSL) of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
Among the visitors to the library during these days were students of the Hədəf STEAM Lyceum.
According to XQ, the purpose of the excursion was to inform the most active students of the first semester within the framework of the “Book of the Month” project implemented at Hədəf STEAM Lyceum about science, information resources, and library traditions, to support the development of their research skills, and to introduce them more closely to the library’s activities.
First, the visitors were provided with detailed information about the library’s activities, its rich book collection, rare publications, electronic resources, the digitization process, and modern library and information services.
The guests began their tour of the library in the Exhibition Hall. The students became acquainted with sections dedicated to National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, as well as other exhibitions. They also viewed works of visual art created by ANAS employees displayed in the hall. A model of the CSL building prepared by CSL volunteers as a contribution to the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” was met with great interest by the students.
Later, the students visited the busts of the 15 founders of ANAS and received information about their contributions to Azerbaijani science. They were also introduced to the Karabakh War Heroes Fund, which began operating at the CSL after the 44-day Patriotic War, the Rare Books Fund, as well as the Academicians’ Electronic Hall and the Diplomatic Fund.
At the end of the excursion, the participants became familiar with the extensive opportunities created at the CSL for scientific research and expressed their gratitude to the library management and staff for their hospitality.
